Man’s Wisdom: Found In Keeping God’s Law

By Angela Wittman “Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;” ( Deut. 4: 5-9, KJV ) As a Christian pro-life activist who supports “personhood” for the preborn , I have been following the Right to

Loving the Least of Your Neighbors

By Angela Wittman 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. – Matthew 5: 44-48 Many folks are coming to the realization that the least protected people in America are the weakest and most defenseless – the preborn. As a result of this realization, we are seeing an increase in efforts to establish protection for preborn people in legislative efforts such as the Personhood state constitutional amendment movement and support for

Scott Brown’s Election to US Senate: A Hollow Victory for the Preborn.

By Angela Wittman Many “pro-life” leaders are applauding the victory of Scott Brown (Republican) to the United States Senate in a special election held this past week in Massachusetts. In all honesty, his victory is at best, a hollow one for the preborn. Let’s take an objective, non-partisan look at Scott Brown’s record and rhetoric on prenatal child-killing as recorded at the website “ OnTheIssues.org ”: Scott Brown on Abortion * 2005: Conscience-based opt out of post-rape contraception. (Jan 2010) * Provide info about emergency contraception to rape victims. (Jan 2010) * Support legalized abortion, but not partial-birth abortion. (Jan 2010) * Supported by right-to-life groups for stem cell stance. (Jan 2010) * Authored bill for 24-hour waiting period for abortion. (Jan 2010) * Abortions should always be legally available. (Nov 2002) Provide info about emergency contraception to rape victims Brown voted for a 2005 amendment to deny emergency contraception to rape victims, but Coakley&

Fleeing ‘Sodom’ and ‘Gomorrah’

Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. (Genesis 19: 24-26 KJV) A friend recently wrote on his blog about a lack of discretion and immodesty of some Christian women on Facebook , the “social” networking website. It seems some women were posting the colors of their undergarments on their Facebook status as some sort of way to raise awareness of breast cancer. This friend rightly questioned the judgment of such indiscreet behavior and tried to reason Biblically with the Christian and church-going women involved: “Yes I am writing a blog entry in regards to women’s undergarments. WHY? You ask… Well yesterday I noticed a lot of the ladies I know posting colors on their facebook status. Apparently this was a stunt organized by a cancer

Turn Justice Back to What is Right

Gallup recently conducted their annual Values and Beliefs Survey which indicates more Americans consider themselves to be pro-life than in previous years with 51% of American respondents claiming to be pro-life. The May 2009 survey also reports 23% of the public holds to a 100% pro-life view that abortion should be illegal in all circumstances: “The May 2009 survey documents comparable changes in public views about the legality of abortion. In answer to a question providing three options for the extent to which abortion should be legal, about as many Americans now say the procedure should be illegal in all circumstances (23%) as say it should be legal under any circumstances (22%). This contrasts with the last four years, when Gallup found a strong tilt of public attitudes in favor of unrestricted abortion.” (Source: Gallup, More Americans “Pro-Life” Than “Pro-Choice” for First Time, http://www.gallup.com/poll/118399/more-americans-pro-life-than-pro-choice-first-time.aspx ) While some

Is John McCain Really Pro-Life?

It has come to my attention that many well-meaning pro-life advocates are supporting John McCain and campaigning for his election as President of the United States of America. However, ignorance is not bliss and in this case it will cost precious lives. I have put together some information from an explicitly Christian point of view for you to consider before campaigning and voting for John McCain in this fall's presidential election. First of all, I want to direct your attention to this article written by John Lofton of The American View in the fall of 2006: McCain Answers On Abortion, Homosexuality Anything But “Straight Talk” Mr. Lofton makes an excellent point by commenting that "No, McCain is not pro-life because he believes in exceptions, that it’s OK to murder some innocent, unborn babies by abortion, as he’ll admit a little later in this interview." John McCain believes that it is acceptable to allow the murder of preborn children who were conceived in less than id

Counting the Cost to Follow Christ

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it...” (Luke 14:28, NKJV) Dear Friends, One of the greatest blessings of being a Christian is the friends one makes while serving the LORD. I have truly been blessed with knowing and working with some incredible Christians who inspire others to follow the LORD wholeheartedly without reservation. In the next several weeks I will be sharing some of their stories with you. I pray you will be blessed and inspired to follow Jesus Christ without reservation. In August of 2006 I first interviewed Steve Lefemine, a pro-life missionary and director of a ministry called “Columbia Christians for Life” based in Columbia, South Carolina for the newsletter “Christian Activist Pro-Life News – 100% Pro-Life: No Exceptions, No Compromise.” Here is the full text of the interview: Q: How did you first know that the LORD was calling you to become a pro-life missionary? A: The Lord ha

Planned Parenthood to the rescue?

“At the moment of fertilization , a new and unique human being comes into existence with its own distinct genetic code. Twenty-three chromosomes from the mother and twenty-three chromosomes from the father combine to result in a brand-new and totally unique genetic combination...” (Source: Prenatal Development - Abort73.com) On the corner of Forest Park and Boyle Avenues in St. Louis, Missouri is a large, white brick building. On the front is a sign identifying it as “Planned Parenthood.” A large colorful banner also hangs on the front of the building. It shows a female medical professional standing next to a young woman, and both are smiling as though they haven’t a care in the world. At the top of the banner in bold text is the question: “Need Emergency Contraception?” Underneath this text and on the side next to the smiling women in smaller text is “No Exam, No Hassle, No Delay.” Then underneath the picture are the words in bold type “Planned Parenthood To The Rescue!” Let’s take a

In Defense of the Innocent

"The answer to ending legalized child-murder-by-abortion has been staring the pro-life movement in the face for over 34 years. The answer is right in the text of the Roe decision itself. Legal 'personhood' at fertilization, WITH NO EXCEPTIONS, is the "sword" which slices through the "Gordian knot" of the three decades long, and 50 MILLION deaths, of America's abortion holocaust.” (Steve Lefemine, pro-life missionary and lobbyist for the Right to Life Act of South Carolina, February 16, 2007) This editorial is written in defense of the innocent preborn children who have become the most persecuted human beings in America. It has been said that the most dangerous place to be in America today is a mother’s womb. It is estimated that 24% of all pregnancies end in abortion, including spontaneous miscarriages; and from 1973 through 2002 more than 42 million legal surgical abortions have occurred.(1) This year there have been 8 states to propose banning abo

Of Sheep and Goats

By Angela Wittman “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14). “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” (Proverbs 27:6) Dear Friends, Last year I bought the book "Day By Day with Jonathan Edwards (Selected Readings for Daily Reflection)" which is compiled and edited by Randall J. Pederson and published by Hendrickson Publishers. I was in need of a daily devotional and I wanted something spiritually substantial to read each morning, as a light breakfast of fluffy evangelicalism just isn’t enough to keep me going throughout the day. I also purchased a copy of the 1599 Geneva Bible published by Tolle Lege Press in 2006 for my evening devotions. I have found that the Word of God, the thoughts of the early Reformers and a hot cup of cocoa before a roaring fire is the most perfect way to end my day. If you are looking for a daily devotional that will strengthen your faith and solidify your thoughts of God, I recommend both of t

What about the babies?

By Angela Wittman “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;”(Romans 12:10 KJV) Dear Friends, As we approach the 34th anniversary of the abortion holocaust commonly known as the Roe v. Wade supreme Court decision which opened the flood gates to blood-thirsty selfishness in America, let us reflect upon our contribution to its continuance. This editorial is not directed to the unbelievers who are dead in their sins and have not received the light of the Holy Spirit to enliven their depraved minds and dead hearts, but to the those who call themselves by the Lord’s Name, the followers of Jesus Christ, commonly known as Christians. I am seeing a most shameful thing take place at both national and local levels among Christian pro-lifers: the fighting for so-called rights to group names, positions on the sidewalks in front of the baby-killing camps, and the “right” of well-known pro-life personalities to lord themselves over lesser known pro-l

Satan's War against the Children

By Angela Wittman Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. (Matthew 2: 16-18, KJV) Dear Friends, One of the most heartwarming sights is that of a child. Their vulnerability and dependence upon others for sustenance and protection should move us all to compassion. Scripture tells us that “children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” (Psalm 127:3) Yes, they are precious in God’s sight; to be loved and cherished by all. But sadly, many people have come to believe Satan’s lies that childre

Not Good Enough

By Angela Wittman And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto... Exodus 32: 7, 8a - KJV Dear Friends, As editor of an on-line pro-life newsletter, Christian Activist Pro-Life News ( www.prolifenews.info ), and as a Christian pro-life activist I try to stay informed of the latest news concerning the pro-life movement. I confess to being suspicious of legislation popular with the majority of conservatives, as they often lose sight of the goal, which is ending all killing of pre-born human beings. In their quest for expediency, they will sacrifice the lives of innocent human beings who may have been conceived in less than perfect circumstances, such as rape or incest. Or they may think a baby whose mother may die during the pregnancy

Why I Have Declined a Seat on the Alito Bandwagon

By Angela Wittman A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8, KJV) Now that Samuel Alito has been confirmed to the supreme Court, I have received numerous endorsements, praises and letters of applause from leading conservative organizations who are riding high on his appointment to the supreme Court as a pro-life victory... But is it really? Or have these groups been taken for a ride? As for me, I have declined to take a seat on the Alito bandwagon, and here are just a few reasons why: On November 15, 2005, it was reported in the Associated Press article "Alito Downplays 1985 Abortion Statement" that when Sen. Dianne Feinstein had questioned Judge Alito about a document in which he stated to the Reagan administration that "the Constitution does not protect a right to an abortion" he evasively replied "I was an advocate seeking a job...I'm now a judge...I'm not an advocate, I don't give heed to my personal views..." His respons

A Matter of Life and Death

By Angela Wittman Dear Friends, Have you been spending countless hours writing letters to your "pro-life" senators and congressmen asking them to vote pro-life? Have you spent countless minutes on the phone explaining to the staff of your legislator why he should vote pro-life? And does he vote for a piece of legislation that doesn't really end the murder of innocent babies in the womb, but just regulates the killers? Perhaps you have even spent thousands of dollars helping certain candidates win election in hope that Congress would have the needed votes to save innocent lives of preborn babies? Are you wondering why the killing of children via abortion is still "legal" and why even with a majority of the Republican Party in power, innocent blood still flows through the sewers of America? Wouldn't it be wonderful if our "pro-life" representatives brought an end to the barbarism of baby killing? A friend, Cal Zastrow of Michigan Citizens for Life, r

Women, Heart Disease, and Birth Control

By Angela Wittman He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye LORD! (Psalm 113:9 KJV) Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD... (Psalm 127:3 KJV) Dear Friends, This essay is written in response to the growing controversy of whether hormonal methods of birth control increase the risk of heart disease for women. Recent studies have shown there is concern of a link between hormonal methods of birth control, which are commonly prescribed for and used by women, and an increased risk of heart disease. Did you know that according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Office of Women's report "Heart Disease in Women" that more women die from heart disease than anything else? They also advise women who are taking birth control pills to not smoke as a way to lower their risk of heart disease. (1) Recent studies conducted between January 1980 and October 2002 suggest that use of the pill can raise cardiovascular risk, and ma
