What does Scripture have to say about the 'Toxic'?

As Christians in this world we will have to deal with wicked people which are often referred to in our culture as "toxic."  Toxic people can be found at your workplace, in your neighborhood, as part of your church and even in your family. How do we as Christians with a high set of standards deal with these tormented souls? Let's take a look at Scripture and see what insight we can glean from the Author and Finisher of our faith . Psalm 37 (KJV) tells us what the end of the wicked (or toxic) is and how God deals with them. Please also notice that we're instructed not to fret or worry about them, but instead to rest in the Lord for He sees what they do and will avenge His people:  Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also i

Encouragement for today: Exodus Chapter 15

15  Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the   Lord , and spake, saying, I will sing unto the   Lord , for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. 2  The  Lord  is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. 3  The  Lord  is a man of war: the  Lord  is his name. 4  Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. 5  The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone. 6  Thy right hand, O  Lord , is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O  Lord , hath dashed in pieces the enemy. 7  And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. 8  And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as

Encouragement for Today: Psalm 120A,B

I cried in trouble to the LORD, And He has answered me. From lying lips and crafty tongue, O LORD, my soul set free. What shall be given you, false tongue; What added to your doom? Sharp arrows from a warrior’s bow, And red-hot coals of broom! Alas for me that I’ve sojourned So long in Meshech’s land, That I have made my dwelling where The tents of Kedar stand! Too long my soul has made its home With those who peace abhor. I stand for peace, but when I speak, They then prepare for war. ~ The Book of Psalms for Worship (Words Only Edition), Crown & Covenant Publications Also published at:  https://www.facebook.com/notes/angela-somers-wittman/encouragement-for-today-psalm-120ab/142882616885412/

Christians, please vet your political candidates and pastors.

Heart of Fire Church in Fern Creek (R.G. Dunlop) - Source: The Pope's Long Con Dear Friends, I am sickened at the lack of discernment and common sense among God's people when it comes to choosing political leaders, churches and pastors. Please realize that not everyone who claims to be of Christ actually knows Him. You must become familiar with the Word of God and learn to judge a person by the "fruit" their life produces. A man or woman might have all the right religious cliches and be able to cherry pick Scriptures to support their sin, but you have a responsibility to become wise enough through God's Word to detect the falsehoods and discern if something is not right with what you're being told by those proclaiming to be God's messenger. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?  17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.  18 A good tree can

An Open Letter to the Church

Dear Friends, I've recently withdrawn my membership from a local church due to it's reluctance to organize in a Biblical manner: February 2, 2017 Dear Pastor _____ and ______ Church Council, It is with great sorrow that I write this letter. I became a member of ______ in February of 2013 with the hope and desire to see ____  grow and mature as a body of believers. And while I have seen the congregation become more interested in God’s Word and continuing to work together in Christian love, I have not seen any movement toward Biblical Church Government as outlined in Scripture. (If there is a movement toward Biblical organization and I’m unaware, please let me know.) Scripture speaks very plainly about the organization and leadership of the local congregation. First of all, Hebrews 13:17 tells us: “Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

By Angela Wittman My mother in her early twenties - a victim of domestic violence. Those suffering from domestic abuse and violence have always been close to my heart. My mother was a victim of domestic violence as a young bride and I remember the stories she told of being beaten while pregnant with my older brother and how she had to flee from her husband in the middle of the night to save her own life. Also, as a Christian I cannot help but cry with those suffering, as we all should do, for as one member of the body of Christ hurts, so do we all. For those who have not experienced abuse or seen it in their own families and are seeking understanding on how to pray for or minister to the abused, I want to share this touching post by a Christian sister, Anna Grace Wood. I think that her post will give you a glimpse into the heart of someone who is hurting by the abuse of the one who is supposed to be her protector, and it will also show you the hope she has found in Christ in the midst

Taking Comfort in the 73rd Psalm

Psalm 73 (AKJV) A Psalm of Asaph. 1  Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. 2  But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. 3  For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4  For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. 5  They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. 6  Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. 7  Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. 8  They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. 9  They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. 10  Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. 11  And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? 12  Behold, these a
