Gallup recently conducted their annual Values and Beliefs Survey which indicates more Americans consider themselves to be pro-life than in previous years with 51% of American respondents claiming to be pro-life. The May 2009 survey also reports 23% of the public holds to a 100% pro-life view that abortion should be illegal in all circumstances: “The May 2009 survey documents comparable changes in public views about the legality of abortion. In answer to a question providing three options for the extent to which abortion should be legal, about as many Americans now say the procedure should be illegal in all circumstances (23%) as say it should be legal under any circumstances (22%).
