Place Your Trust In Jesus Christ

By Angela Wittman I've been reading about the legitimacy of celebrating Christmas; and while many people have an opinion of if one should celebrate it or not, I haven't read much about the One whose birth it is supposed to acknowledge.  So, while Christians debate whether or not Christ was actually born on December 25th and if many of the Christmas symbols and traditions have pagan origins, I am going to write about placing your trust in Jesus Christ. Scripture tells us to: "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. " (Hebrews 13: 5-7 KJV) If we were to just meditate upon these verses not only during the Christmas season, but throughout the year, we would have much more peace of mind and good direction for our daily lives.  Placing our trust in people or things for

Tinkering with the Gospel

By Angela Wittman “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” - Galatians 1:6-9 KJV “...If someone had told me 20 years ago that some 'evangelicals' would soon be teaching that God does not know everything (Open Theism), that Scripture is not infallible (we must not deny Scripture's humanness!), and that our justification before God rests, in some measure on our good works (the so-called New Perspective on Paul), I would hardly have believed it. But we live in spiritually and theologically confused times. It would only be too easy, for the sake of a

Time to turn the page...

Dear Friends, Those of you who have read my work probably know by now that I am one who "travels lightly," which means I have learned to hold loosely the things of this world, including positions which the LORD has placed me in. Sometimes this causes confusion for my co-laborers in Christ and fellow Christians. This is not my intention, but instead I am simply trying to follow as closely to the Lord's leading as possible and serve where He is directing me. So, I am going to share my personal testimony with you which also will give an update on what I have and will be doing in the near future. Praise the LORD and thank you for your interest. ------------------------------------------------------------ My Testimony: I am married to Jeff Wittman, mother to two sons, Matthew and Christopher, and grandmother to Joshua and Abby. I am a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America and attend Worship at the RP Church in Sparta, Illinois. The LORD began my new birt

Are You Hidden in Christ?

“Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.” – Psalm 83:1-3 “The saints of God are called His hidden ones - Psalm 83:3. Why so? Not only because they are hid in God's decree, and hid in Christ's wounds, but oftentimes God hides them in a time of danger and calamity. He reserved to Himself seven thousand that had not bowed the knee to Baal. The prophet knew not where there was one, but God knew there were seven thousand.” – Thomas Watson, Puritan Theologian A friend who recently returned from a mission trip has shared the story of how he and several others smuggled Bibles into China. He reports that the people in China are so hungry for the Word of God that they are willing to risk their very lives. While persecution grows hot in China, so does their faith and the Gospel is

Planned Parenthood to the rescue?

“At the moment of fertilization , a new and unique human being comes into existence with its own distinct genetic code. Twenty-three chromosomes from the mother and twenty-three chromosomes from the father combine to result in a brand-new and totally unique genetic combination...” (Source: Prenatal Development - Abort73.com) On the corner of Forest Park and Boyle Avenues in St. Louis, Missouri is a large, white brick building. On the front is a sign identifying it as “Planned Parenthood.” A large colorful banner also hangs on the front of the building. It shows a female medical professional standing next to a young woman, and both are smiling as though they haven’t a care in the world. At the top of the banner in bold text is the question: “Need Emergency Contraception?” Underneath this text and on the side next to the smiling women in smaller text is “No Exam, No Hassle, No Delay.” Then underneath the picture are the words in bold type “Planned Parenthood To The Rescue!” Let’s take a

Keeping an open door for the preaching of the Gospel

By Angela Wittman In my previous editorial I gave a brief introduction to the book “The Ladies of the Covenant: Memoirs of Distinguished Scottish Female Covenanters, Embracing the Period of the Covenant and the Persecution” written by Rev. James Anderson and published in 1850. My hope is to introduce you to the women who lived during the period of the Reformation (from the 1500’s through the 1600’s) in Scotland and also during the most intense time of persecution, known as “The Killing Times” (1680 – 1688). It is reported that approximately 18,000 men, women and children died for their Christian faith during this brief time. Christians can prosper from the testimony of those who have faced difficult times and held fast to their faith. The faithful witness of those who were persecuted and martyred for their testimony of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will strengthen and encourage us as we see our culture becoming less tolerant of Christianity. I pray we will use the examples set by the

A Ministry of Healing

By Angela Wittman And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. (Matthew 4:23 KJV) Dear Friends, This editorial is written to draw attention to the ministry of healing which our Lord Jesus Christ found so much worth in, that He, the Son of God, participated in it. As a Christian Medical Assistant, I can tell you from experience that ministering to others in the art of healing is not at all glamorous, nor is it an easy job. In fact, the work is physically and emotionally draining; and if you are expecting gratitude from others for your hard work, it may be long in coming. But if you are looking for a way to show compassion and mercy to others, then this may be the job for you. I recently received a health update from a friend who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I was so impressed with her praise for her doctor that I asked if I may share it, an

By Whose Standard?

By Angela Wittman See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. (Deuteronomy 30:15,16 KJV) When it comes to knowing the difference between right and wrong, by whose standard do you use? Do you take a look at the latest poll to see if certain behavior is sinful? Or do you look to the never changing Word of God and those ministers who preach it faithfully without eliminating certain portions of Scripture, which may not be "politically correct"? Do you go to church to have your ears tickled? Or do you want to hear the Word of God preached? I am sure many of you will say you want to hear the Word preached, but just don’t tell me what I can and cannot do...After all, that’s judgmental, condemning

Sow the Seed

By Angela Wittman But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. (2 Cor. 9:6) Dear Friends, I hope you will find something of worth in this report of my activity and observations while on the street in front of the child killing abortion mill in St. Louis, Missouri: Today is April 22nd. It is approximately 9:30 a.m., and I am at the corner of Forest Park and Boyle Avenue at Planned Parenthood. The last time I came was two weeks ago, and a ranting, raving, aborting man threatened me. So, I have brought a tape recorder, Gospel tracts, an aborted baby sign, and I have the LORD Jesus Christ with all His heavenly hosts surrounding me. --------------------- Today is May 6th, and I am at Planned Parenthood on the corner of Forest Park and Boyle Avenue. It is 9:40 a.m., and so far, there isn’t anyone else here. Because I do respect a friend who has been doing this a whole lot longer than I have (even before I be

Just whose fault is it anyway?

by Angela Wittman ...Nehemiah cared nothing for the applause of men and was totally unwilling to compromise the mission he had undertaken for God. The paganism Nehemiah feared was not the paganism of the pagans; it was the paganism of his own people. (Confronting Paganism, In The Presence of God by R.C. Sproul) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 Dear Friends, Since becoming a Christian twelve years ago, I have been aware of a serious illness plaguing the Church. At first I did not know what to do about it or if I should even say anything, as I was such an ignorant new convert. Who was I to question the church leaders and/or their wives? You can imagine my feelings of intimidation, as they would recite Scripture from memory and sing hymns without even looking at their hymnals. On the other hand, I could not recite the books of the Old or New Testament, much less entire p

Is it really 'All or Nothing'? ABSOLUTELY!

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. (Matthew 16:24, 25 KJV) Dear Friends, Have you made a radical commitment to Christ? Are you determined to deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Jesus? Have you lost your life for His sake and, as a consequence, found new life in Him? I pray you have as none of us can resist or escape the call of the LORD upon our lives. Just as there is no compromise or exception when following Jesus, there can be no compromising or exceptions to abolish the murder of babies in the womb. We may win a few battles incrementally, but to win the war being waged against the preborn babies, we must outlaw all murder via abortion. Regulation of abortion is not the solution and it will not save the lives of these little ones. A friend recently asked me to read about Eli
