'Letter to the Editor' on behalf of Michael Marcavage (2004)

Dear Editor, A young man in Pennsylvania is boldly preaching the Gospel in his community. His name is Michael Marcavage and he is experiencing persecution for reading the Word of God at a borough council meeting in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. The city "fathers" tried to prohibit Michael from reading the Bible at their July 21, 2004, meeting during the public comment period in which he was disrespectfully and roughly removed from the meeting because they do not want to hear what God has to say about homosexuality. ( I have to wonder if stoning Christians will be next on their agenda.) They not only think they can thumb their noses at God, but they also believe they are above the law and can violate one's God given and Constitutionally secured right to free speech. Here are some excerpts from an article that was published in the Philadelphia Gay News on July 29, 2004: "Marcavage says he attended the July 21 borough-council meeting to speak during the public-comment perio

'Let your light shine before men'

By Angela Wittman "But he [Stephen], being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him..." (Acts 7:55-58, KJV) Dear Friends, Do you long to be a Christian like the early disciples? Is it in your heart to give your all for God and you don't know quite where to start? Perhaps you have a desire to serve and you need a little direction? Then let me point you to the One who has created good works for you to walk into. The One I am referring to is despised by the world and He was crucified. He has warned us that we will be hated as He is hated. So, dear friends, let us soberly and prayerfully count the cost to follow Jesus Christ. A young man in Pennsylvania

'Ponder the path of your feet...let all your ways be established'

By Angela Wittman "In the November 2004 elections, my plea with Christians is to vote for righteousness, ... The Bible says that righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people [Proverbs 14:34]. If Christians vote for Republicans or Democrats, they are wasting their votes." -- (Steve Lefemine, Director of Columbia Christians for Life ) Dear Friends, I am convinced that to achieve victory in the war against murder of children by abortion, we need to stop being afraid to offend and begin speaking the truth in love. This is how we will transform our culture to once more being predominately Christian instead of the multi-cultural, pluralistic and intolerant society the God-haters are constructing. Some will tell you that we must end the murder of the unborn babies incrementally...I disagree. I think we need to draw a line in the sand and say we will not support or vote for those candidates who have compromised on the issue of life for babies -- regardless

Protecting Marriage

By Angela Wittman 18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2: 18, 21-24 KJV) Dear Friends, I am writing this essay as today, (July 11, 2004), has been declared "Protect Marriage Sunday." I am happy to report that my Pastor preached a very Biblically correct sermon this LORD's Day as he read these passages of Scripture: Genesis 1: 24-31; 2: 7,18 - 25 and Romans 1: 18-32, and then expounded upon their

'Rejoice in the LORD always'

By Angela Wittman "Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!"  - Philippians 3:4 "When witnessing on public sidewalks and singing is "criminal" and "disorderly;" when ripping the arms and legs off of children is protected by law as "orderly;" then crushing judgment from Lord Jesus will soon destroy our once free nation. When churches get too busy to lift a finger to try to get rid of their local abortuaries, then the lack of fire in our hearts will be repayed with fire from the sky like was hurled down upon Sodom. And Sodom had no Bibles." (Cal Zastrow -- June 28, 2004) Dear Friends, We are commanded by God to rejoice in the Lord always and what better way is there to express our joy than by singing Psalms and hymns of praise to our mighty and glorious God? In fact, Scripture tells us in the book of Ephesians (chapter 5: verse 19) to speak "to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melo

'A woman who fears the LORD shall be praised'

By Angela Wittman ~~~~~~~~ "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD shall be praised." (Proverbs 31:30) Dear Friends, I was recently reminded of the truth that a woman's beauty does not lay in her outward appearance (as this will fade); but true beauty is found in those women who fear the LORD. The type of beauty I am referring to is the beauty of integrity and conviction. When I read the accounts in Scripture of women who found great worth in the Lord’s eyes, I see women of strong character who feared the LORD more than man. It is my great pleasure to review with you what Scripture records about some of these beautiful women and the memorable deeds they performed in faith. One of the first women who come to my mind is the prophetess Miriam who was also the sister of Moses and Aaron. Miriam is well known for the heroic story of hiding and watching the baby Moses as he floated in the Egyptian river and was found by Pharaoh's daughter.

100% Pro-Life: No Exception -- No Compromise

By Angela Wittman " I am a 44 year old woman, who at age 13 had gotten pregnant. That was the year Roe v.Wade came into being. "I was forced to have an abortion. It was a choice that I didn't make. It was chosen for me and I live daily with the pain of having done it. I was almost 6 months along and will never forget what it was like to give birth to a child that was placed in what looked like a Kentucky fried chicken bucket and thrown away. It was a horrible thing. "I am thankful God can forgive me for having allowed them to do this to me. It has taken many years for me to accept God's forgiveness. I pray no young, or older woman would make this choice for herself. Please tell them to place the baby up for adoption; not to go through the terrible experience that stays with you forever. "Please only use my name, June, to express my pain to others. " (  Letter to the editor in the Illinois Leader, 3-29-04) Dear Friends, A child is a unique living individ
