His Creation Order

By Angela Wittman

Wives 'to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.'

The recent endorsement of South Carolina GOP Gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley by Sarah Palin and her good showing in the primary has many attributing her popularity to Mrs. Palin's endorsement and continued involvement in her campaign. But at what cost to the family of Nikki Haley and those women who try to follow in her political footsteps?

Politico reporter Kasie Hunt wrote this about Sarah Palin and her influence in conservative GOP races in the article Sister Sledgehammer: Sarah Palin takes aim at Dem women:

"Palin is emerging not only as a standard-bearer for social conservatives but as a campaign trail Annie Oakley, a pioneering female pol who not only intends to flex her muscle to carry conservative women to office but also to shove more than a few Democratic women out of the way.

“ 'No one before her was a conservative woman on the national scene who has made such a splash,' says Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a group dedicated to electing women who oppose abortion rights.

"Palin eagerly claims the feminist mantle — an unusual assertion for a candidate from her wing of the GOP — and spoke Friday of 'a new conservative feminist movement' with an 'emerging conservative feminist identity,' before a Washington audience."

Can one be an obedient Christian woman while wearing a feminist mantle? I think not and would like to direct your attention back to the Bible and the Creation order:

26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

(Genesis 1: 26, 27, 28; KJV)

7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
18And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
21And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
(Genesis 2: 7, 8, 18, 21, 22, 23; KJV)

Ladies, our proper role is as a "help meet" to our husbands. God is very clear in His praise of such a woman, for who does not aspire to like the Proverbs 31 woman? What a blessing she is to her Lord, husband, children and neighbors. Scripture says this about the godly, virtuous woman:

10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
(Proverbs 31: 10 - 31)

And clear instruction is given to Christian women in the New Testament book of Titus, chapter 2:

3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

God's Word clearly speaks on the proper roles of men, women and children. Obeying these commands (they aren't suggestions) will bring about peace, righteousness and joy. If we obey God, then instead of having disorder, strife, anger, rebellion, abuse, and evil permeating our homes, we will exude a sweet fragrance of love and holiness for the watching world to see and perhaps even desire to imitate.
