Children, Honor Your Parents

Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you. Deuteronomy 5:16 – NKJV At one time the Commandments of God were held in high esteem in our nation. Children were catechized and taught Scripture by their parents and Church. Schools, colleges and universities reinforced this teaching to the students. America was a shining light – a city on a hill for all the world to see. America was a great nation when America honored, worshipped and obeyed the true Living God. Now America has become a dim light among the nations. She doesn’t shine nearly as bright as before. She has left her first love and is seeking to be just like all the other nations of the earth. And it is with shock and sorrow that I see my children and grandchildren suffering the consequences of previous generations rebellion. So, dear children, please listen to my advice as it comes from the

Fathers, Protect Your Daughters

I recently received an email from a 19 year-old young lady who has declined to go away to college or seek to live independently outside of her parents home. Instead she is content to wait for the LORD to bring her a husband who will honor, cherish, love and protect her. Her father, a Christian man, is in agreement and pleased to continue to protect and take care of his daughter. I think there is a beautiful lesson in this father and daughter relationship for all of us to learn: God created the family and He instructs fathers to protect their daughters. If you are grieved by the recent statistics from the CDC which report that one out of four teenage girls (14 – 19 years old) has a sexually transmitted disease, then you cannot help but acknowledge that something is terribly wrong with America. We have allowed our children to become sexual playmates with no moral sense of right and wrong. We have not only lost our moral compass, we have sacrificed our children to the hedonistic world whi

Christians Are Called To A Higher Standard

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Romans 13:9 – NKJV) Before my new birth in Christ in 1993, I had thought I was a “good” person, but in my heart I knew I was hell bound due to my sins, even though I had everything a woman could want: a wonderful husband, two beautiful children, a lovely home and many of the finer things of life. But I was still miserable because I knew I was not serving God and even though I was trying to make myself into a “good” person, it just wasn’t working! Over a period of several years, the LORD brought me to the end of myself and in desperation I reached out to Him and He was there. He then led me to repent (turn away) from my sins and rely upon His completed work on the Cross (Christ’s sacrifice and atonement

Counting the Cost to Follow Christ

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it...” (Luke 14:28, NKJV) Dear Friends, One of the greatest blessings of being a Christian is the friends one makes while serving the LORD. I have truly been blessed with knowing and working with some incredible Christians who inspire others to follow the LORD wholeheartedly without reservation. In the next several weeks I will be sharing some of their stories with you. I pray you will be blessed and inspired to follow Jesus Christ without reservation. In August of 2006 I first interviewed Steve Lefemine, a pro-life missionary and director of a ministry called “Columbia Christians for Life” based in Columbia, South Carolina for the newsletter “Christian Activist Pro-Life News – 100% Pro-Life: No Exceptions, No Compromise.” Here is the full text of the interview: Q: How did you first know that the LORD was calling you to become a pro-life missionary? A: The Lord ha

Give Thanks to the LORD!

By Angela Wittman Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 1 Chronicles 16:8 – NKJV As we prepare our homes for the gathering of family and friends this Thanksgiving season, let’s not forget to prepare our hearts in humble gratefulness to God for the blessings and grace which He has bestowed upon us as individuals and as a nation. Here is a bit of history about Thanksgiving which you may not have been taught in school as taken from the website “ A Puritan’s Mind ” by Dr. C. Matthew McMahon: “The celebration we now popularly regard as the ‘First Thanksgiving’ was the Pilgrims' three-day feast celebrated in early November of 1621 (although a day of thanks in America was observed in Virginia at Cape Henry in 1607)... “The Pilgrims left Plymouth, England, on September 6, 1620, sailing for a new world that offered the promise of both civil and religious liberty. The Pilgrims had earlier left England in 1608, as the Church of England had cu

Are You A Fearless Believer?

By Angela Wittman James Renwick - Martyr I can think of nothing more stirring than hearing accounts of those martyred for their faith. While there are those who scoff at the zeal of Christians willing to lay down their lives for Jesus Christ, history proves that those who have done so were full of the grace and joy of the Holy Spirit even until the very end. These men and women who counted their lives not as dear as the Gospel impacted the world for Christ in a way that will never be forgotten. J. C. McFeeters, author of “ Sketches of the Covenanters ”  writes this about those who spill their blood for the Gospel of Jesus Christ: “God has His own way of calling out His witnesses, and assigning service to them. The Church, as a whole, has invalidated and incapacitated herself for this responsibility, by weakness, declension, and compromise. God does not commit His testimony to the Church, while in such condition; nor to the faithful in the Church, whose voice and actions are weakened or

Straw Polls and Values Voters

It seems as though the media has been inundated with the latest popularity polls and results for who may be our next president. Straw polls and their results have been headlining the national and local newspapers for weeks, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Conservative Christians even held their own Values Voters forum where they questioned candidates on moral issues, and then took their own straw poll of the candidates. The delegates voting were chosen by national conservative leaders. The September 17, 2007 press release from ValuesVoters.com states: “This isn't about partisanship. It's about values. It’s not about the letter behind the name, rather it’s about the values of the heart and the policies that effect the public.” (Source: http://www.valuesvoterdebate.com/ ) My sincere hope and prayer is that the Values Voters will look beyond political party affiliation when they choose a candidate to support. Christians should have Biblical standards for choosing politica
