Can't see the forest for the tree?
By Angela Wittman
Earlier this morning I posted this on Facebook after looking at my Twitter feed, but it's also applicable for Facebook:
I then went on to say:
And if you don't agree with every jot and tittle these folks tweet, don't you dare share your opinion because they block you! I'm losing respect for quite a few thin skinned people and frankly, life is too short to put up with them. Church, we need to grow up and stop acting like we're still in Junior High School.
As you can see I'm frustrated with my social media friends. I'm thinking about Scripture's emphasis on exposing false teachers (which is important) compared to its emphasis on Christ. I think Christ wins out; and while I don't want folks to throw discernment out the tree house window, I do pray they will remember that our main emphasis should be on Christ and we ought not shun the brothers and sisters who don't agree with us 100% of the time.
Please forgive us for being thin-skinned and petty toward others. I pray all who read this will reflect on their actions on social media and in the local church. And if we've behaved like 13 and 14 year-old children instead of mature Christians, please forgive us and help us to grow-up in Christ Jesus.
In Your Name I pray, amen.
